We are looking for a Technical Director to join our team, leading the efforts of GameSpy Technology’s engineering teams in the development of services and solutions for game publishers and developers.
GameSpy provides enabling online technology for over a hundred developers each year on multiple platforms. The Technical Director is primarily responsible for the management of the engineering teams as well as providing technical direction and process for GameSpy.
The ideal candidate will have the capability to build and direct a growing team of engineers in a manner that increases their effectiveness, efficiency, and suitability to the technology and product goals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee estimation and technical implementation of all GameSpy Technology engineering efforts.
- Maintain regular meetings and communication with engineering leads and product management.
- Expand and strengthen the GameSpy Technology engineering team.
- Maintain and evolve GameSpy's engineering processes, standards, training and organization.
- Collaborate with IGN-wide engineering leads, leveraging or contributing existing systems and practices where possible.
- Establish R&D objectives for GameSpy's core technology team.
- Develop flexible and robust systems for functionality identified in conjunction with product management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years C, C++, ASP.net or C# programming experience
- Minimum 3 years experience managing technical staff.
- Lead the engineering efforts on multiple large scale projects from start to finish.
- Ability to create an environment that encourages collaboration and teamwork
- Experience developing software for a clustered server environment. Familiar with concepts of high availability.
- Experience writing efficient, multi-platform code a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with scrum-based Agile development process a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with console game development
- A passion for gaming, especially online gaming, a plus.
